yea ours has that have to ring at 8.30 or queue out the door, ring at 9 and all appointments are gone, it was only cos my mam said they had pre bookable appointments that i rang, it must be fairly new as they never used to, the receptionists are very helpful and lovely i must admit, couldnt get into see my doctor til mid september but she told me about a late surgery at the other practice they have and booked me onto that. I just get annoyed that i dont see the same one, i was supposed to be referred to the muscular skeletal clinic back in february, have they done it? have they shite!

the doctor i saw last night was fab, really helpful etc but now i cant get back in to see him for my blood test results and am seeing yet another doctor. which is actually doctor number 4 from the problem starting.

the tall ships hitting town doesnt help either as no surgeries are allowed to book appointments for 2 weeks as they all have to be on standby.

I also now have so many tablets i need a feckin box to keep them all in, and rattle when i walk! and thats before the blood test results to see if i have underactive thyroid or diabetes!

aahh the joys of hitting 40 lol!

Bugger!! Obviously the topic of the moment is doctors......
Earthchild I sympathise, I went through that all bit of having endless tests, waiting for results and seeing specialists then finally after much loss of weight, endless stress and worry was diagnosed diabetic.....but it did not end there then trying to figure out how to manage it and along the way being told off like a little child for high sugar levels and then being told what to eat, trying to explain that eating something simply because it might be good for me is not enough it has to have some kind of taste so I want to eat it. Things are better now but every now and then I have to go for blood tests, eye tests and then visits to the doctor. My next blood test is in september and I have to refrain from eating for a minimum of 9hrs then wait ages before getting seen to by one of the vampires...Ohhhh I can't wait!!!!!!
If you are diagnosed diabetic and you need advice about it please don't hesitate to contact me :-)

thanks for that naughty

i think its one of the first things they come up with because all my dads side of the family are diabetic and all the males, including my dad, died of ischemic heart disease, me being overweight by quite a bit its the one thing they always test me for, although I admit the thyroid is a new one. The constant change of doctors over a long period is arthritis, sciatica and trapped nerves, pain management etc more than anything, or even just getting a diagnosis!

but i do appreciate the offer of help xx

GPs are a pain in the arse I have to admit. I changed my doctor because they had the ring at 8.30am lark going on and it took me about 3 weeks to get an appointment once. I have to say that I have had brilliant care with my new doctors. I have high blood pressure and went quite regularly to have various checks and referral to the hospital for blood tests etc before they put me on my medication - felt i was really looked after instead of just thrown tablets at and shoved out the door.

I really dislike some doctors receptionists and have had a few "discussions" with them in the past. What really pisses me off is the "doctor is very busy" malarky that goes on. Doctors have a huge whooping payment from the NHS to deliver services in the community and i have worked all my life, so you fecking well will see me you bastard  not that im bitter in any way lol. It also irritates me when receptionists ask what is the matter with you. They dont have a right to ask, regardless of what they say, its a confidential service and lets face it, when they repeat your details on the phone you know they have a waiting room full of bored patients listening to every word they say. My son was poorly about six months ago, and had pains in his chest (it was an ulcer), I rang up, couldnt get an appointment and I said, I need to get him into see a doctor this morning or I will go up to the hospital. She said is it an emergency - (how the feck do we know whats wrong, thats what we're going to see the GP for!!!), I said well i dont think he's about to die but he is in pain and has pains in his chest - she then asked his age and said - its probably indigestion. I was absolutely furious at this and I couldnt help it I had to tell her straight because its fecking idiots like her, who dont have a medical degree, who could potentially put someones life at risk - so i asked her if she was a qualified doctor and she said no im the receptionist, and i said well in that case stick to what you know, stick to recepting, instead of sodding well trying to tell me whats medically wrong with my son - how imcompetant. Needless to say I didnt get an appointment!! :whistling: (thank god i changed that doctors).

That's the thing. We all know they get paid ridiculous amounts of money in order to so this public service yet when you actually need one there's no way of getting one. It makes no sense. My son had to go a month with no appointment for an infection in his toe..
It's just a good job we've got some common sense and know how to treat this kind of thing.. Had he ended up with it spreading or anything, the complaints procedurei s the first we would have looked up.
And ALL doctors receptionists are just plain fecking rude imo.

I have to phone the docs on Monday to attempt to get an appointment with the nurse to get my youngest two immunised. We're a bit behind, so I need to see her when she has time to talk and whatnot. Last time I attempted this I got told to take them into the baby clinic between 11 and 12. That's okay, if it was just us.. But being as I shall be taking 4 children along, (albeit well behaved) I shan't fancy sitting in a waiting room full of screaming babies and toddlers til I get seen for a quick in and out in 5 session.
The receptionists shall not sway me, I shall remain strong.. Appointment me fuckers, make my day

Women saying the word "nothing" in a very short sharp way when you ask if anything is wrong (usually asked if the women have been quiet), well its not just the one in particular woman that does that, its every single woman in the whole world :whistling:

Well I phoned the surgery and got through to the practice manager which is very rare.. Usually the harem of receptionists keep him out of sight and away from the telephones.. But I got an appointment for the squishlettes on Thurs morning. Unheard of, but still - hurrah!

New rant coming up - Books

I want a really exciting book to read (in fact ive seen one advertised, about swingers stories, thought it would be good so I was looking for that really). On going into Waterstones and WH Smith all I can see is the sodding vampires - overtaking the world they are. Im really getting pissed off with them now. Ok the Stephanie Meyer books are great but that doesnt mean that every single vampire book has to be dredged up again - please go away vampires.

the other thing that there is an abundance of are the tragedy books. You know the type, entitled "Daddy Please No", or "Mummy Tell Me Why" - there was even one by a stray dog entitled - My life at Battersea Dogs Home, I thought fecking hell even animals are jumping on the bandwagon now. Now ok I admit that some people have had terrible lives and Im not trying to belittle them - it is tragic. But you know there comes a time when you cant shock anymore, cos some bugger will always have a worse life story than you. Everyones at it, i could write one about the time my terrible mother wouldnt let me go to this youth club because there were "smokers" there - I was 15 ffs, I mean it wasnt as if i was going to some club and having sex with strangers was it!!!!!! I could have written about how terrible my mother was, not letting me go, me having to endure staying in watching Coronation Street, looking sadly out of the window at my friends walking down the road and having the agony of the wonderful night they had the next day at school - but no I wont write it, as I accept terrible things happen to us all.

And to cap it all, in Waterstones, I was looking for the lifestyle section to see if they had that swingers book in, made up a lie that I was looking for local history when the assistant asked if she could help and when I do find the sex section (next to the baby's name books, god why didnt I think of that) they didnt have the swingers book but they did have various Kama Sutra books and....... cos im only 5' and they were on the top shelf, I couldnt fecking well reach them - totally fed up......... :whistling: :frantic:
